How to play Memory Pairs

Memory Pairs gives you a focused activity to play in your browser. Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Look at what changes after your first action.

A useful comparison

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Make the next step deliberately.

Your goal

Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Review the board or playing area as it changes.

Step by step

  1. Turn over any face-down card.
  2. Choose a second card. Equal symbols stay visible.
  3. Unequal cards turn back after a short pause.
  4. Continue until every pair is visible.

Controls

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Check any mode label before starting.

A useful example

Turn over one card, remember its position, then choose a second. A matching pair stays found; a mismatch is hidden again. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Choose a deliberate next step.

Watch out for this

You cannot turn a third card while a mismatched pair is still being shown. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
