How to play Word Search

Choose a round of Word Search and settle into its rules. Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. Use the example below to understand a decision. Choose a comfortable screen position before beginning. Look at what changes after your first action.

Each board contains eight target words from the included English word list.

Read before acting

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Make the next step deliberately.

Your goal

Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Try to explain the aim in your own words.

Step by step

  1. Select the first and last letter of a straight word.
  2. Words can run horizontally, vertically or diagonally, in either direction.
  3. Find all eight targets.
  4. New puzzle shuffles again.

Controls

Tap or click endpoints. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Avoid pressing the same control repeatedly while a move is being processed.

A useful example

Selecting the endpoints in reverse order also finds the same word. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Consider the next action carefully.

Watch out for this

Words cannot turn corners. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules.
